He studied medicine at the prestigous Armed Forces Medical College and completed his post graduate General Surgical training at the All India Medical Institute. Following graduation he travelled to England to pursue the coveted FRCS - a degree that would make him a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. This he achieved in 1983. After working for several years in the National Health Service, and a thousand joint replacements later, he set his sights on the USA. Between 1990 and 1993 Dr Singh worked at The University California, Los Angeles and completed a M.Phil in Bioengineering and joint design and joint kinematics.
In 1993 he moved to Jackson, Mississippi with his family and in 1996 graduated from the Emergency Medicine Program at the University of Mississippi. Following completion of his Emergency Medicine Residency and Board Certification, he accepted a position at the Northshore Regional Medical Center.
While living in Jackson, Dr Singh and his family travelled regularly to New Orleans, and fell in love with the city.
While living in Louisiana Dr Singh has worked at Chalmette Medical Center in the Emergency Room and at the Earl K Long Hospital Emergency Department in Baton Rouge. He has been an Assistant Professor at Earl K Long since 1998, and is a Certified Instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Dr Singh is married to Melanie and they have four children. His hobbies are politics, Dxing, travelling and photography.
